A Scientific Path to Stress Relief

The Science of Stress

On February 25, 2025, the Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering at BVRIT hosted a transformative guest lecture titled “Socio-Emotional Stress in Students: A Neurobiological Perspective”. The session was designed specifically for 2nd and 3rd-year students to help them navigate the unique mental and emotional pressures of academic life.

Bridging Biology and Wellness

The guest speaker, Dr. P. Nagaraju, an Assistant Professor at BVRIT Narsapur, offered more than just a typical academic lecture. As the Director of Pramanik Yoga and a certified instructor with over 14 years of experience, Dr. Nagaraju combined scientific neurobiology with the ancient wisdom of yoga.

He explained how chronic stress isn’t just “in your head”—it has a physical impact on brain function and academic performance. By understanding the neurobiological roots of stress, students can better manage their emotional well-being and learning efficiency.

Practical Tools for Every Day

Dr. Nagaraju didn’t just discuss the problems; he provided actionable solutions. He introduced students to simple, practical tools that can be easily integrated into a busy student schedule:

  • Breathing Techniques: Targeted exercises to calm the nervous system.
  • Posture Awareness: Improving physical alignment to reduce bodily tension.
  • Emotional Mindfulness: Developing a renewed sense of awareness to regulate feelings.

A Path Forward

The session concluded with students feeling empowered. Beyond just gaining knowledge, attendees left with a holistic toolkit of practical strategies to improve their daily well-being and find balance in their academic journey.
